The Color Story You’d Like To Tell

What color story would you like to tell in your home? This, more than anything, sets a tone and a "mood" for your home. Start with a neutral base color for your walls or your sofa and add other splashes of color into your pillows, lamps, and artwork. A color board is the perfect way to visually plan the furniture and accessories in your space to coordinate with the color palette you’ve chosen.

Colors have a magical effect of transforming how a space feels and how you feel in a space. At Patrick Day Home, we have two colors that we adore decorating with because of their diversity, variety, and beauty: blue and green. Blue is the color of the ocean and the sky and brings about an inspired and serene ambiance. Green is the most dominant color in nature and brings about a sense of peace and relaxation. These colors work well on their own, mixed together, or even blended with other bold colors like magenta.

Blue hues are always gorgeous in interior design. As one of the three primary colors, blue is a favorite amongst most people. It can be used in all rooms of a home and can make a space have a calmer ambiance. From pillows to decorative trays, even adding a subtle hint of blue to a mostly neutral colored space will work wonderfully. And remember that navy is actually a neutral tone that works with any other color!

Green is a naturally tranquil color because it’s found so commonly in nature. Using this color feels like you're bringing some of the beauty of nature indoors. If you’re looking to introduce a color other than white, softer green hues are an excellent choice. Or if you’re looking to be a bit bolder and have bright pops of color in your space, then a jewel tone emerald green or deep forest green are luxe options as well. Green pairs well with so many other colors that it can almost act as the neutral in your chosen color palette, as well.

Decorating with color is meant to be fun, bring life into a space and reflect who you are. Even though blues and greens are favored at Patrick Day, we love mixing in other fresh colors to design a space that’s both visually interesting and inviting. Blend magenta with blue and yellow with green to liven up your interiors and let the colors speak for themselves.
